Christmas Party Fun!

Today we had our Christmas party.  We had an amazing time.  We danced our feet off and filled ourselves with yummy food.  First we did some country dancing then we played some party games.  After that we had our refreshment break and then did some more dancing and party games.  We danced the Gay Gordons to "Wake Me Up" and the Military Two step to "Timber" as well as dancing to some more traditional music too.

Remember that it's Christmas Jumper day tomorrow at school.  If you don't have a Christmas Jumper then just wear some tinsel or a Christmas hat or something festive.  Remember to bring in your 50p which will be donated to charity.

christmas lunch

On Thursday 11th December the whole school had a Christmas lunch. First we pulled our crackers then we had a main of turkey, steak pie or a baked potato with different sides. For desert we had ice cream and a biscuit. We also had a  fun sized chocolate treat. We all really enjoyed our lunch.    By the ICT club

Social Dancing

Primary 4,5,6 and 7 have been practicing social dancing for our Christmas party. We have been learning the Gay Gordons, The Canadian Barn Dance, The St Bernard s Waltz and some more. As well as some traditional Scottish music, we were dancing to modern songs like Timber as well. Most of us really enjoy learning the dances and look forward to the party.

Reports

Primary six seven have been writing reports about WW1 Trench Warfare.  First of all we did some research  at school using sheets and books then we went home and used the internet and books to do our own research. Next in school we shared all of the information we had found out at home then made headings for all of the information and sorted out our information under these headings.  We made an assessment rubric with Mr McDonald and we used that to help us write our reports.  The rubric tells us what we need to include in our reports to make them brilliant!

P4-7 Outfits for Nativity

Please can your child bring in a pair of smart dark trousers or jeans to wear for the Nativity.  These should be in a carrier bag with your child’s name clearly marked on it. These will have to be left in school so don’t send in any that you may need.  The school will provide them with a dark t-shirt therefore no tops are required.  Please can we have the trousers/jeans in by Friday 12th December.

Many thanks

Stars project talk from high school pupils

On Wednesday 3rd December S1 pupils from the Vale Of Leven Academy came in to talk to primary 6/7 about the stars project and high school. The stars project when some S1 pupils invent a product which is helpful with things that people struggle with in life. The winning team made an app about stopping cyber bulling. Three of the pupils from that team came in. We really enjoyed this talk and it will help in the future if we do the stars project. It also answered some questions about the school.

World War One talk

Primary 6/7 had a WW1 talk from Mr Spencer who used to be a soldier. He talked to us about trench warfare and the Airforce and showed us the tip of propeller, some pictures and the top of a shell with three rifle bullets. We all enjoyed the talk and appreciate the time that Mr Spencer gave up to come and talk to us.

Anyone who is able to help should turn up at the school anytime between 9.30 and 1pm.

P1 Registration 2015

World War I

We have been very busy with our World War I topic and have been doing lots of interesting things.  We enjoyed our visit to Clydebank Museum where we saw lots of artefacts and learned a lot more information about the first world war.

In class, we split into 5 hometeams.  These are Alexandria and Renton, Clydebank, Jamestown and Bonhill, Dumbarton and Helensburgh.  We chose these names for our home teams as they were part of the companies in the Argyll and Sutherland  Highlanders during the first world war.  In these hometeams we have been working on topic challenges.  So far we have completed 6 challenges.  These were Trench Warfare Challenge, an Artefacts Challenge, the Role of Women Challenge, the Homefront Challenge, Gas Attacks Challenge and the Princess Mary's Christmas Box Challenge.  We really enjoyed working through these challenges and trying on and handling some of the artefacts in the handling kit.

Please leave a comment below telling us which challenge was your favourite and why.
