Pupil Councils - Press Gang and Sports Superstars

Recently in school the School Councils have been working very hard at their new ventures. This week has been a very rewarding week for them, in particular the Press Gang and Sports Superstars. As budding young journalists the Press Gang have been communicating with all local media to raise the awareness of our school and keep the local community up to date on the schools activities and achievements. To begin the week the children had their very first article published in both the Lennox Herald and the Garto Rag! Written completely by themselves and sent in to the papers, what a great achievement for a Monday! In the middle of the week we were provided with the amazing opportunity of interviewing Stuart Bannigan, Partick Thistle Player of the Month at his home ground! We presented him with his award, asked him lots of questions and even got to have a kick about with him on the pitch! To round off the week we have now been offered the opportunity to work alongside Your Radio to further promote our school and the children who attend it! This has been a very exciting week full of rewarding experiences! Well done to all of the children at Gartocharn Primary School who work so hard in their councils and a very special well done to the representatives from the Press Gang and Sports Superstars who have become fabulous little journalists in their own right! I would like to take this opportunity to send out a huge thank you to the parents for being so supportive of this school venture, to Mrs Hamilton, who without we wouldn't have been quite as successful as we had hoped, to the support received from the local community and businesses, to the staff at the Lennox Herald and Garto Rag who have been so accommodating, to STV for the same reasons and again to Your Radio. (further updates to follow on that) Last but not least a huge thank you to the pupils at Gartocharn for working so hard and achieving all that they have planned! A very proud bunch of teachers in the school at the moment I think!

Science Transition Visit

Today Primary 6/7 thoroughly enjoyed their Science Transition Visit from Miss Stewart! Miss Stewart showed the class a small experiment in relation to chemical reactions and they were all very impressed! Then they had the opportunity to try out their own chemical reactions! Everyone was delighted with the results of the experiments and concentrated very hard throughout the activity! Primary 6/7 were able to use lots of scientific equipment for the experiments such as pH paper and spatulas. The class had a great day and are looking forward to being involved with even more science!

Pirate Treasure Hunt

A big well done to all the pupils in P4/5 who organised and ran a very successful treasure hunt today.  Everyone had a great time and enjoyed all the different activities they had to complete in order to get their treasure.  A big thank you to Mrs Seymour and the Parent Council for providing the "treasure" for today.

Thank you to everyone who donated a £1.  They collected £57 that will be passed on to the NSPCC.

Here are some pictures from today.
