Eco Day

On Tuesday the 16th of June the Eco Warriors had an Eco Day. The Eco day was to raise awareness of the importance of being kind to our environment. We had different stalls such as a book swap stall, a hessian bag stall, a fair trade tuck shop, a bird feeder stall and a seed stall. The Globe Trotters also had a toy stall. All classes got to come along and buy stuff from the different stalls. Parents came along too to buy things. It was a great success and hopefully we encouraged people to be more eco friendly. On Friday we are took some of the items that were left over to the Millenium Hall to sell at the coffee morning. We sold quite a lot there too.

Mary's Meals

Yesterday a lady came into talk to us about mary's meals which is a charity that provides some of the poorest children in the world with a hot meal if they attend school.  She told us about the backpack appeal.                                                               The backpack appeal provides these children with a school bag containing some essential items to help them learn and come to school.  As a school we are supporting this appeal and can bring backpacks in a t the start of the new school term in August.  So it is that time again that we all need to pack our bags to send to children who are not as lucky as us in places that are in danger.                                            Here is a list of things that they need: backpack, notepad, pencils, pens, crayons, rubber, ruler, sharpener, pencil case, towel, shorts or skirt, T- shirt or dress, flipflops or sandals, small ball e.g. tennis ball, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and a spoon. Please do not put anything else in the bag thank you.           Please help us to support this worthwhile charity.        Here is a link to mary's meals website.                     Mary's Meals                                                                        By the ICT Club

P6/7 Campfire

On Monday P6/7 had a Campfire down in the forest area. First we were allowed to show our parents or the adult responsible for us around the forest. We had made little cue cards with all the information we wanted to say about the forest area. Then we all met back up at the meeting point. Then Craig Thomson, the outdoor activity man, did some orienteering with us. After we had did activities we went back to the meeting place and had hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows they were delicious. The Campfire was also to share what we had learned about the John Muir Award.

Bike ride

Bike Ride

Today, during school we went a bike cycle up to  Croftamie. Despite the weather we still made it there and back. We cycled there and had our packed lunch at the Wayfarers aswell as an ice - lolly. It was really fun.   There were
lots of nice surroundings, views and surfaces on the paths. There was a huge big bumpy path and it was so fun. We went up some of the John Muir Way. The trip was also great because it was part of our topic, The John Muir Award. It was one of the activities for getting the John Muir Award Certificate which is amazing.

Out In The Forest

Yesterday primary 6/7 were out filling bird feeders. We made up the bird food with bird seed and lard. After we had made the feed we had to fill the bird feeders with it. Then we wrote some down facts about what we had done to make the forest a better place for the wildlife living there.
